You can use a Bible Reading Plan, or you can select your own topics within scripture, or you can read a chapter a day. This is totally up to you. ~Pray. Starting with prayer is important. Ask God to remove distractions and allow your focus to be on him and his word. Ask God to allow the Holy Spirit to work within you, open your ears and your eyes to his word, and soften your heart so that you can receive what he wants you to see. ~Read the passages with an open heart. Read them aloud. It really does help. If needed, read more than once. ~Underline or highlight words, phrases, or verses that catch your attention. The Holy Spirit is working, so take advantage of his prompts and act on them. ~Scripture: Write out the scripture / passage that you want to journal. This can be one verse or multiple verses. (if you want to take a step further, highlight or underline those words, phrases, or verses that caught your attention previously but this time, do so within your journal.
